“The hinges creak slightly as you lift the top of your humidor. The warm smells of cedar and tobacco flood your nostrils as you gaze over your selection of cigars, trying to find that one that will be perfect for today. Shall it be a mild, creamy Connecticut or a dark, spicy sungrown?”
Every cigar we smoke is its own unique experience and I’m not just talking about blends, although that is a very huge part of it. There are so many different factors that can influence and affect our experience with a cigar. Mood. Weather. What we eat. What we drink. Who surrounds us. All of these can alter, both positively and negatively, how our palate reacts and to me this is one of the most beautiful things about being a cigar smoker. Not only is it a passion but it is a science and at times even a game almost.

I have taken that game a little farther and have been experimenting with my cigars for the last year. I have switched wrappers on countless cigars to see how a new wrapper would affect both the subtle and not so subtle complexities and balance of a particular smoke. The journey has been incredible and I have evolved greatly in my understanding, in my palate and as a lover of the leaf.

I have created my own unique experience and that is what smoking cigars is all about. Not just the cigar, but what surrounds us when we are smoking. Because of these “mad scientist” experiments, I have smoked cigars that no one else in the world has smoked or may ever smoke and I am here to share my journey with you. Whether that be a simple switch of a wrapper or a more complicated infusion of flavors, it will all be revealed for you in these pages. Whether my ventures be success or failure, savory or repulsive, pretty or ugly, I will document it for you every step of the way.

I hope that I might also inspire you to create your own experience. It is as simple as opening your humidor.
